Types of FTP Connections

Although connections can vary, all FTP connections consist of a two port system. There is the COMMAND Port (sometimes called the Control Port) (based on Telnet) for sending and receiving all of the commands and there is a DATA port (utilizing the TCP protocol) to transfer that data (ie.. files, directories). FTP connections may vary based on any one of these three factors.
