USER NAME

The USER command is required by the server for access to its file system. This command will normally be the first command sent after the connection is made. Servers can allow a new USER command to be passed at any point in order to change the account you are logged in as. This has the effect of purging any user, password, and account information already supplied at the beginning of the login sequence. All transfer parameters are unchanged and any file transfer in progress is completed under the old user name access control parameters.
